OUR BELIEFS
We believe in one God, creator of all things.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Trinity. Eternally begotten from
the Father, He is God.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, which indwells and
sanctifies all believers.
We believe the universe was created in six historical days and is continuously sustained
by God. Human beings were created, not evolved, in the image of God.
We believe that the Bible, though written by men, was supernaturally inspired by God so
that all its words are the true written revelation of God; it is therefore inerrant in the
originals and authoritative in all matters.
We believe that Adam, the first man, willfully disobeyed God, bringing sin and death into
the world.
We believe the Jesus Christ died on the cross in full substitution for the sins of all. He
was buried, and on the third day arose from the dead.
We believe that each person can be saved through faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior.
We believe that a church is a local assembly of baptized believers, organized to
evangelize, teach, and administer the ordinances of believers baptism and the Lord's
Table.
OUR HERITAGE
THE PAST
New Salem Church was established in 1883. In that year Rock Springs Church divided
to serve their membership better. One part moved near Bynum and retained the name;
the other part moved to a new site a few miles west on Old Highway 87, and became
known as Walker Hill. In 1884 we sent delegates to the Associational Meeting. At that
time the church became known as New Salem, and the membership was 77.
THE PRESENT
Today New Salem Church continues to make an impact in the lives of individuals, in our
community, as well as in our world. We are a family, excited about growth taking place in
the lives of our family members. We seek to guide believers to discover and fulfill their
life's purpose in God's Kingdom, through ministry and mission of New Salem. Our
ministry is the strengthening and maturing of the body of Christ in all areas of life. Our
mission is:
"Developing wholesome relationships to disciple the world for Christ."
Ephesians 4:12-13
THE FUTURE
To offer a life changing future in Jesus Christ is our heart's desire. "For the wages of sin
is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus Our Lord." (romans 6:23). It is
our desire to offer a place where lives can be changed; thereby changing the future. The
difference in our past and our future is a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ,
